Travel updates, stories from the road, and some new original art

It’s been a busy Spring for me. Earlier this year I was asked to produce a behind-the-scenes documentary for the Dirty Heads new album “Cabin by the Sea”. It will be out June 19th. They have posted a couple videos from Sonic Ranch already for Spread to Thin, Love Letters, and Mongo Push. In case you missed it, here is an interview Duddy B and I put up while I was there. As soon as the masters were out the door, I hit the road.

First stop was to tattoo at MD Tattoos in Northridge, CA with Mike DeVries, London, Katelyn Crane, Jamie Parker, and Marc Durrant for a week. I value the time I get to spend working with these amazing artists more than anything. Their passion and commitment to their craft pushes me to learn and get better. Here are a couple tattoos I did while I was there.

After LA, I headed up the coast to see my little sister graduate from Berkeley. Super proud of her for that, she’s the only kid in my family so far to get a degree. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll go to college. Maybe pigs will fly too. Anything could happen.

Since we were in the Bay we stayed in San Francisco for a few days.

There is no better way to get to know a city than on foot. So we walked it.

Right when I got to San Francisco I got a box of stickers with a couple of my designs. Had to put those up everywhere we went too.

On the drive back to Arizona we took the coast through Big Sur again. Can’t get over how beautiful this area is. Probably one of the most beautiful I have been to. Not only because of the scenery but also because there are a TON of rare minerals there and I can’t get enough of rock hounding. I love collecting rocks and minerals and Big Sur is one of the best places to do it. We stopped in Jade Beach but I ended up only collecting some Serpentinite which is super soft and really easy to carve. I didn’t know that at the time, but it will be really great to do intricate designs with. After Jade Cove we hit Moonstone beach. We actually found a lot of Jade and some other cool minerals here that I have started making some jewelry pieces out of.

Got some more updates coming later this week with tales from the Creeks of the Payson / Mogollon Rim, more mineral and crystal collection and carving. More sticker antics something new this summer that I’ve never done! Stoked to share. Until then, live long and prosper.
