I picked up a labradorite crystal skull along with a bunch of others in Sedona a few years ago on a trip to the Grand Canyon. This skull has always travelled with me since then and has brought an energy of humor to even the most frustrating times. The Tucson Gem show came through last month. I hoped to find a nice large sized crystal skull but they were all pretty expensive and not very good looking. For the cost of a skull I decided to buy over 50 types of minerals and crystals and the tools that I’d need to carve my own. So far, so good. Here are my first couple sculptures. The one on the left is a Quartz geode and the one on the right is 4.2 billion year old stromatolite algae. I am particularly interested in Algae because it holds many promises for clean energy.
