In April 2017 my friend Lisa died. She was an incredible singer and musician. It was an especially hard loss for me.
A few days later some friends came over and asked for a tattoo of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" as a soundwave. I did the tattoos and my partner Juliana flippantly suggested "wouldn't it be cool if you could play those back?".
Like a lightbulb going on in a cartoon bubble over my hear, I realized I knew how to do that.
I created a demo app to show them and decided to tattoo one on myself. I had Juliana film me while I tattooed myself and I made a video and a simple landing page for the video. The next morning I posted it on Facebook and it reached a million people in one day. Within a week it was picked up by every major video-meme page and did 30-50million views per page totaling more than 550 million views.
Soon I was doing interviews for the mainstream media news outlets and syndicated to every station around the country. It was wild. I founded Skin Motion and sold my ownership in 2023.
